Proper car seat installation is important

The first step to take is to read the instruction manual that comes with the car seat and to read the car owner’s manual. These manuals will help you identify the proper way to install the car seat. Some car seats may use a tether anchor that is located in the car, while other car seats may have to use the vehicle’s seat belt in order to properly secure it into the car.

If you are installing a read-racing car seat, the recline angle is very important. Most car seats will have an indicator that will let you know if the angle is incorrect.

There are many things to consider when installing your car seat, and sometimes the best choice is to head to your local police station or fire station and have a child passenger safety technician do a car seat inspection. In many places this inspection is free of charge.
