The plaintiff subsequently commenced a personal injury lawsuit against the defendant, alleging that the accident caused him to suffer significant harm. The case proceeded to a bench trial, after which the judge issued a verdict in favor of the defendant on the grounds that the plaintiff failed to show that his injuries were caused by the accident.
