The many causes of commercial construction worker injuries

Are you employed as a commercial construction worker? Do you enjoy your job? Do you also realize that you could be injured at any point?

As a commercial construction worker, it’s a must that you do whatever you can to avoid trouble on the job. You should also expect your employer to take steps to prevent an accident.

There are many causes of commercial construction worker injuries, including but not limited to the following;

  • Falls. A fall can happen at any time on a construction site. For example, a worker could slip and fall on debris. Along with this, there are times when falls occur at height, such as on a ladder.
  • Falling objects. When people are working at height, there is always the chance that something could fall to the ground below. If this object strikes a person, it could cause a serious injury.
  • Equipment accidents. As you know, many types of equipment are used on construction sites. While this equipment can help improve speed and efficiency, it is also dangerous at times.
  • Fires and explosions. Any fire or explosion, regardless or how big or small, could cause a serious injury or even death.
  • Building collapse. If any part of a building collapses, workers in close proximity are at risk of injury.
  • Repetitive motion injuries. This comes about when a person does the same job, day after day. For example, regularly lifting heavy items could result in a shoulder, back, or knee injury.

As you can see, commercial construction workers are always at risk of injury. While some are able to avoid trouble their entire career, others are not nearly as lucky.

If you’re injured in this type of accident, take these steps:

  • Receive immediate medical attention.
  • Report the accident and your injuries to your employer (don’t wait to do so).
  • Learn more about the cause of the accident.

By taking these steps, you’ll find yourself in better position to make a full recovery. Furthermore, you can then learn more about your legal rights. For instance, you may be able to file a lawsuit against a negligent party with the idea of obtaining compensation for your injuries and other damages.
